Sun spots, those dark spots that appear on sun-exposed skin over the years, are called many different names: age spots, liver spots, senile lentigo, and solar letigines, just to name a few. No matter what they are called, they all refer to the same thing: unsightly brown, gray or black flat spots which appear on areas of the skin that have been exposed to the sun. Sun spots vary in size, and are a result of over production of melanin (skin pigment).
