Botox Cosmetic Treatment in Boston

Searching for BOTOX injections in Boston? BOTOX is a famous non-surgical cosmetic that smooths wrinkles in the face. Over time, the body produces less and less collagen and elastin, which are crucial for healthy, young-looking skin. Without these proteins, the facial skin loses its elasticity and starts to sag. Muscle tone is lost. Fat migrates to undesirable areas of the face. This often leads to the appearance of visible signs of facial aging, including wrinkles.

Dr. William Loverme also offers BOTOX to Sudbury and Wellesley patients.

To treat those pesky wrinkles that can develop around the eye and eyebrow area, Dr. William E. LoVerme often recommends BOTOX Cosmetic treatment for his Boston, Wellesley and Sudbury patients.

About BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment

When injected, BOTOX Cosmetic, or Botulinum toxin A, suspends muscle movement in the treatment area temporarily, thereby smoothing out the overlying wrinkles. BOTOX treatment is FDA approved for use in treating moderate to severe crow’s feet (i.e., the lines that crop up around the outer corners of the eyes) and moderate to severe frown lines (i.e., the vertical lines that occur between the eyebrows). BOTOX injectable treatment does not require any downtime, so individuals who undergo the procedure at lunch can return to work after. The aesthetic advantages of BOTOX Cosmetic treatment typically last about four months.

Candidacy for BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment

Generally, appropriate candidates for this BOTOX Cosmetic treatment include those who:

  • Wish to improve the look of wrinkles around the outer corners of the eyes or in between the eyebrows
  • Do not have a history of allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in BOTOX Cosmetic
  • Do not currently have a skin infection in the treatment area

BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment

BOTOX Cosmetic treatment is a quick, in-office procedure. No downtime is needed, so patients can undergo treatment at lunch and resume their normal activities after.

Before starting treatment, Dr. LoVerme goes over your medical history, evaluates your skin health and listens to your cosmetic concerns. He may apply a topical anesthetic, if needed, to maximize patients’ comfort throughout the treatment. Your plastic surgeon cleans the treatment area with an antiseptic, such as alcohol, prior to injecting a small amount of the product into the treatment site. Immediately after treatment, an icepack may be temporarily applied to the treatment site, to minimize swelling and discomfort.

What to Expect After BOTOX Cosmetic Treatment

BOTOX Cosmetic BostonImmediately after BOTOX treatment, the treatment site may be itchy, red, swollen or tender, but symptoms are expected and should subside over time. Applying an icepack to the treatment area can help alleviate any discomfort.

Patients must avoid rubbing the treatment area for 12 hours and avoid lying down for three to four hours after treatment, to prevent the product from migrating to unwanted areas. They should also avoid strenuous activities, including exercise, immediately following treatment.

The aesthetic results of BOTOX Cosmetic treatment generally last about four months. At that point, patients can undergo another treatment to maintain the aesthetic outcome. Depending on your unique cosmetic goals, Dr. LoVerme will suggest a suitable treatment protocol.
